WITH

VAUGHAN ROBERTS

Right now the world is more connected than it ever has been before. So why do so many people report feeling lonelier than ever before? Whether you are married or single, join Vaughan as he takes us back to God's word to think seriously about the good gift of friendship. Let's consider how the gospel compels us to take our friendships beyond the superficial.

Vaughan Roberts is the author of numerous books including True Friendship and God's Big Picture.

He is the Rector of St Ebbe's Church in Oxford (UK), Director of the Proclamation Trust. (a Christian ministry organisation that encourages and equips Bible teachers), and a single man who greatly values friendship.

WITH  SUSAN AN &

KAMAL WEERAKOON

Christian. Single. And from a traditional ethno-cultural background. How do each of these elements of our identity impact the way that we view ourselves and our singleness? How do you live well in a country that promotes individual freedom and happiness, but with a family who insists on traditional values of family and honour? Come and see how being part of Jesus' culture can help how to wade through these complexities.

Susan An is an assistant pastor at St Augustine’s Neutral Bay and Church by the Bridge. She is Christian, single and Korean; and she loves all these aspects of her identity

Kamal Weerakoon was born in Sri Lanka and grew up in Australia. He is studying a PhD in multicultural ministry, and is the missions director for Gracepoint Presbyterian Church,  Sydney

WITH

KUTTER CALLAWAY

Joining us all the way from California (in the early hours of the morning his time!), Kutter will take us on an exploration of pop culture's obsession with romance and sex; help us to consider how the Christian church often adopts that same troubling vision; and challenge us to see how Scripture is able to form the family of God to be both a distinctively gospel-oriented and life-giving presence in the midst of it all.

Kutter Callaway is the author of Breaking the Marriage Idol,  associate professor of theology and culture at Fuller Theological Seminary in California, and co-director of Reel Spirituality.

He is actively engaged in writing and speaking on the interaction between theology and culture—particularly film, television, and online media

OCTOBER 28th

WITH

DANI TREWEEK

In a world (and a church) which so often idealises romance, sex, and marriage what are we to make of the Bible's teaching about Jesus' disciples not marrying a non-Christian? And does it really apply to us today? If you're single, come along as we carefully & sensitively tackle this thorny question together. If you're married, join us so that you can learn how to better love your single friends who are grappling with this difficult question.

Dani Treweek is the founding chair of the Single Minded Conference and has just completed her PhD on a theological retrieval of singleness within the contemporary church,

She regularly speaks and writes on matters of Christian living, and particularly on the topics of singleness, marriage, family, romance, sexuality and more.

WE'VE GOT ANSWERS

CAN I WATCH THE HOT TOPIC WEBINARS WITH SOMEONE ELSE?

Yes! We have a range of different ticketing options for individuals, small and larger groups to access the webinar. This means you can watch it with a friend, your bible study group or even a larger group from your church. Just purchase the ticket which applies to your situation (and observe safe social distancing principles!)

Individuals - $15*
Groups of 2-3 watching from the same location - $30*
Groups of 4+ watching from the same location- $50*

*Additional $0.50 booking fee applies

WHAT DOES AN INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP TICKET INCLUDE?

Your ticket purchase includes

  • Live access to the webinar
  • Complimentary access to the webinar recording (which allows you to watch the webinar at a time that suits you if you can't attend live)
  • Ability to submit questions for the Q&A section of the webinar
Please note, there is a $0.50 booking fee on all ticket purchases.

ARE THE HOT TOPIC WEBINARS ONLY FOR SINGLE PEOPLE?

No! We have always been "A Conference About Singleness. . . But For Everyone". Our hope is that the 2020 Hot Topic webinars will be interesting and helpful for both single and married Christians alike. So for those who are single, have a think about which of your married friends you can invite! And for those who are married, please come, and invite other friends to join you.

HOW DO I WATCH THE HOT TOPIC WEBINARS?

The webinars will be run on Zoom. To access the webinar all you will need is:

After you have purchased your ticket we will send out a password protected link to the Zoom meeting which you will access on the night. Please don't share this link with anyone else.

(NB. Church license holders will be sent the password protected link details a few days prior to the event)

DO I HAVE TO REGISTER FOR ALL THE HOT TOPIC WEBINARS?

No! You can choose to register for one, some, or all of the webinars. But if you do purchase an individual or group ticket for all four, you are eligible for a 10% discount. Just use the code HOTTOPIC10% at checkout. Church licenses can also be purchased for any number of the webinars. A 10% discount is automatically applied to church license purchases for all four webinars. Remember, if you can't attend any of the seminars live, your individual or group ticket includes access to the recording so you can watch it at a time that suits you. (NB. Does not apply to church license tickets)

WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

Tickets are purchased through Trybooking.com's secure purchasing portal. You are able to use either credit card or paypal to purchase your ticket.

Single Minded does not receive any access to your payment information.

ARE TICKETS REFUNDABLE?

No, we are unfortunately unable to refund purchased tickets. But don't worry! If it turns out you can't attend the event live, your ticket includes access to the webinar recording, so you can watch it at any time it suits!

WHAT IS A CHURCH LICENSE?

A Church License allows a church to provide access to any/all of their church members to one or more of the Hot Topic webinars. Churches select how many webinars they'd like to purchase a license for and then a few days before the event we'll send through the livestream access details for them to pass onto their congregation members. Those members can then choose to attend the webinars from their own home or together with a small or larger group of people from their church. NB. Church licenses do not include post-event access to the webinar recordings.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LARGE GROUP & CHURCH LICENSE TICKET?

A large group ticket allows a group of 4+ people to attend the webinar from the same location. A church license ticket allows a church to provide all of its members access to the webinar which they can then choose to watch at home by themselves or with groups of others from their church.
